Experience

Our goal for Mason’s Remote Learning Experience (RLE) является обеспечение высокого качества, engaging learning experience for our students that is also manageable for families who may be juggling multiple responsibilities during this unprecedented time.
When designing our RLE, our Learning Experience Team drew on resources and insights from a range of experts, while also learning from the experiences of districts in other states who started remote learning before us. Our approach to RLE is based on the strong relationships that have been built throughout the year among teachers and students. We have tried to rely on technologies that students are already familiar with; however, RLE may require some new tools and our teachers will do their best to offer students with needed supports.
Below, we include responses to questions we anticipate families may have about remote learning. We are grateful for our amazing students and families as we embark on this new journey!
For students in grades PK-4:

You will receive an email by 8pm each evening detailing the learning for the following day and including any relevant links or resources. Teachers have been given the option of previewing all learning activities for the week on Monday, or sharing learning activities on a day-to-day basis. Regardless of which method the teacher has chosen, you will receive an email each day at 8pm.

For students in grades 5-12:

Remote learning activities will be posted in Schoology course pages. A weekly learning plan will be posted by 8pm each Sunday to allow students and families to plan for the upcoming week. Students will access learning plans for each course that they are currently enrolled in. Learning plans will be in a folder located at the top of each course materials page.

Learning plans will include a mix of introducing new content and allowing students time to practice and reinforce what has been introduced.
  • Специальные учителя область (такой как тренажерный зал, Музыка, и искусство) will each share one lesson a week for students to engage in.
  • Learning plans will primarily ask students to utilize different tools and resources they are familiar with and have used throughout this year. Если студент нуждается в дополнительной поддержке или руководствах любого аспекта обучающего плана, they are strongly encouraged to take advantage of the Comet Connect Time and/or email their teacher. More information about Comet Connect Time is below (seeWhat if my student needs help completing an assignment or is struggling to keep up with assignments?”).

Support for your student may take many different forms, depending on their needs. What we have learned from school districts in states that have launched remote learning before Ohio is that it can take a couple of weeks to settle into a new learning routine. Allow yourself and your child time to adjust, knowing that our team of educators is here to support you as we figure this out together.
