How will students facing food insecurity get fed?

During this time of school closure, Mason City Schools Child Nutrition is serving all students in the community 18 and under regardless of eligibility. Beginning Monday, April 6th, until further notice, the Child Nutrition Department will be distributing multiple days of breakfast and lunch meals on Mondays and Wednesdays. The main location for curbside service will be the circle at Mason Intermediate from 11:30 am to 1:00 pm. In addition, drop off service on Mondays and Wednesdays will continue from 11:30 am to 12:15 pm at these community sites.

  • Western Row Front Parking Lot, 755 Western Row Rd
  • Mason Intermediate, 6307 Mason Montgomery Rd
  • St. Vincent DePaul, 1065 Faitauina Rd

You may remain in yours cars and meals will be distributed in adrive-upmanner. Student name and/or ID will be needed and you will be provided a display tag for your car to record that information. To limit contact, meals will be placed in the trunk of each vehicle.

Also , if your family has had a change in economic status and is in need of meal benefits, the MCS Child Nutrition department is processing Free and Reduced Meal Applications. Applications are available https://www.mcschildnutrition.com/. During this time of social distancing, you have an option to complete page 7 and take a picture of your signed and completed application with your phone and email it to [email protected]or [email protected]masonohioschools.com

If you have any questions, please call the department at 513-336-6526 and select option 3.

Taking care of our families in need is one of my highest priorities. Making sure that every student has adequate nutrition trumps everything else. We'll continue supporting our families and coordinating with our community partners to take care of Mason and Deerfield famliies.
