4.8.20 MCS COVID-19 Hana

ʻO Nā ʻohana Kula ʻAmelika aloha,

He mea hou ka ʻike mamao iā kākou āpau. As we all adjust and adapt to our new way of “doing school”, your teachers and principals welcome your feedback about ways that we can support your child.

E nānā kēia wikiō of Superintendent Jonathan Cooper sharing ways families can access mental health support while buildings are closed.

As of today at 2pm, ʻaʻohe mau hihia i hōʻoia ʻia o COVID-19 ma nā Kula Kula ʻo Mason, a 5,148 ua hōʻoia ʻia i nā hihia ma Ohio. Below are responses to common questions from our families and the public.

Now that we know we won’t be back in school until at least May, what is Mason’s plan to let students pick up items from their lockers?

During the weeks of April 13 and April 20, Mason High School, Mason Middle School and Mason Intermediate School will have opportunities for families to retrieve items that have been left in lockers that are needed for remote learning experiences. In order to maintain social distancing requirements, families will be asked to remain in cars, and your child’s items will be placed in your vehicle’s trunk. MHS Principal Bobby Dodd, MMS Principal Lauren Gentene and MI Principal Eric Messer will share your school’s specific plans by Friday.

We understand that some of our MECC and Mason Elementary School students may have left items in their classrooms, or in other parts of the building. I kēia manawa, we are not able to reunite students with items from their classes. We will continue to work with our public health partners, and will let you know when we have determined a plan that allows for a more wide-spread pick up of items.

My child’s Chromebook isn’t working. He aha kā mākou hana??

First, email kākoʻ[email protected] and we’ll try to fix it virtually.

If we aren’t able to fix it:

  • Print out this sheet or hand write a description of the issue on a sheet of paper.
  • Slide this sheet inside of the Chromebook (between screen and keyboard)
  • Come to Mason Elementary (6307 Mason Montgomery Rd) between 8AM-10AM or 12PM-2PM (M-F) to swap it out.

My child misses getting to ride the bus. Anyway a school bus can come by?

During this time when buildings are closed, we know that some Comets are missing seeing their bus drivers and riding the bus. Also we have Comets marking special birthday milestones without their friends or extended family. To help make our Comets days a little more special during this time of social distancing, our Mason City Schools Transportation Department will be glad to pay your Comet a special visit with the Comet Connector Bus

Use keia palapala to sign up to have the Comet Connector Bus come to your home and celebrate YOUR Comet!
